Virtual Event – Plugging into progress: Evaluating power sector decarbonisation for 1.5°C

The Climate Action Tracker hosted a virtual event on decarbonising the power sector on 21 May 2025 titled: “Plugging into progress: Evaluating power sector decarbonisation for 1.5°C”.

At COP28 in late 2023, governments committed to triple renewables capacity in line with 1.5°C by 2030. This year, they are presenting their new NDCs that should outline how they plan to meet that tripling renewables commitment, and their other Paris Agreement goals. But is this actually happening?

In this webinar, we talked you through the Climate Action Tracker's new evaluation of the power sector, how to understand it, and how it is useful for understanding what’s needed in NDCs. We highlighted countries where renewables rollout is gathering speed, and those who are not delivering on their commitments.
